2023 Nicks Secret GF Yarra Valley Pinot Noir
Comprised of vineyards, cattle pastures and native bush, this estate stretches over 1100 acres making it one of the biggest land holdings in the Yarra Valley. The fruit for this wine was hand picked from select parcels of the estate’s best blocks which have an easterly aspect allowing the vines to avoid the harsh afternoon sun. Fermented in small batches over two weeks with minimal intervention the wine was then matured for 6 months in older French oak barriques and hogsheads.
Gorgeously perfumed, light in body, silky textured and fresh.
Semi translucent red to dark red colour with black toned edges and a vibrant red hue. Captivating the olfactory senses is a gorgeously perfumed nose of violets, red cherries, strawberries and anise followed by hints of dried herbs, forest floor and spicy cedar. Light, silky textured and fresh, the palate is layered with delicious red cherry, winter strawberry and anise flavours. Infusions of fresh herbs, delicate forest floor and spicy cedar flash across the back half. Polished tannins with a long, elegant finish laced with red fruit. Gold medal winner at the Yarra Valley Wine Show 2024 with 95 points. A vinous bargain when one considers the pedigree of fruit.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews.....
20–30% whole bunches and matured in older barriques and hogsheads. A light, bright ruby red. Poised and nicely defined aromas of red fruits, gentle florals and a little spice. It's a touch closed, in a good way, on the medium-bodied, energetic and very well-balanced palate. A quite delicious and well-priced wine to drink over the next three to four years. Drink by 2030.
