2023 Meadowbank Chardonnay

Matured in French oak barrels (10% new) for a period of 9 months. Brilliant pale straw colour with distinct highlights of green around the edges and a watery hue. Elevated nectarine and pear aromas intermix with cashew, subtle dried honey, biscuity nougat and spice notes. The refined mid weighted palate is amply concentrated with nectarine, citrus and white peach fruits which sit over a dried honey, biscuity nougat, subtle cashew and gun flint infused back drop. Good underlying freshness with a long gentle cream tinged conclusion.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

This year maybe offers a little extra richness and fruit power, though it’s still a tight little devil, with a driving grapefruity acid line though white peach and lime zest, a little lemon butter gloss and richness, along with cedar and spice. The finish is very long and a bit on the flinty side. It sizzles and pops, and it’s an outstanding Chardonnay all up. Drink 2024-2032+
