2023 Mandala Pinot Noir
Dark red core with black toned edges and a bright red to dark red hue. Fragrant violet, cherry and strawberry aromas blossom from the glass followed by hints of anise, fresh herbs and spice. Juicy dark cherry and strawberry fruits mix with dried herb, subtle anise and spicy cedar elements. Fleshy in its feel it has fine grained tannins and a generously fruited mid length finish.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 12.8%
Other Reviews….
Fermentation in open pots with 100% whole berries, matured for nine months in French puncheons and barriques (25% new). A very bright crimson. I gave this a few good swirls, which released an impressive bouquet featuring black cherries, incense and a little underbrush. Fleshy with lovely inner-mouth feel, the palate is rounded out by its svelte, pliant tannins. It's good now but will be even better in the next two to four years. It's great, too, to see the number of delicious under $40 pinots being produced in the Yarra these days. Drink by 2028.
