2023 Freycinet Vineyard Riesling
Established in 1979 by Geoff and Susan Bull, Freycinet was the first commercial winery on the East Coast of Tasmania. Today daughter Lindy and partner Claudio Radenti who both have extensive winemaking experience from their travels around the world carry on the tradition.
A brilliant Tassie Riesling – tense, zingy and concentrated.
Brilliant water like core with distinct highlights of green skirting the edges. Intense lime, citrus and orange rind scents leap out of the glass trailed by some red apple, talc and steely mineral notes. A concentrate of lime, lemon and Granny Smith apple fruits greet the palate with laser beam like acidity providing great tension and a zingy feel. Superb power and textural volume with notions of chalky talc, orange rind and steely mineral elements interspersed through the very long, scintillating finish.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 12.5%
Other Reviews….
The east coast of Tasmania provided riesling of great distinction this vintage. From Freycinet comes this wine – its power, focus and intensity all of the highest quality. The lime/lemon fruit duo stare down the glittering acidity, the lingering aftertaste bright and fresh. Drink to 2043.
