2023 Domaine Moreau-Naudet Chablis

Founded in the 1950s and now led by Virginie Moreau, this long-established Chablis estate has built a reputation for wines of purity, depth and precision. Virginie continues the legacy of her late husband Stéphane, who steered the domaine toward organic farming, indigenous fermentations and long lees ageing in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak. The vineyards, centred around Préhy, Courgis and Chablis itself, are managed by hand and cropped at modest yields to capture the tension and minerality that define the region’s greatest sites. Moreau-Naudet's wines are recognised for their textural weight, unforced detail and faithful reflection of terroir, aligning them with the classic, artisanal style of Chablis.

Sourced mainly from 20-30 year old vines in Préhy and Courgis, along with parcels in Chablis and Chichée, this wine sets the tone for the domaine. The fruit was pressed gently over several hours and fermented with natural yeasts before resting for around 20 months on lees, mostly in stainless steel. The approach is patient and traditional, favouring texture, clarity and a subtle saline edge that marks the Moreau-Naudet style.

Derived from three different locations, Moreau-Naudet’s 2023 Chablis Village opens in the glass to reveal aromas of grapefruit zest, acacia and flint. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied, tangy and textural, concluding with a precise, delicately sapid finish. Similarly to the Petit Chablis, it’s vinified entirely in tank.
