2023 Domaine Charles Audoin Marsannay Rose
A delicious Burgundian Rose that has wonderful flavour intensity, a silky texture and mildly tangy acidity.
Domaine Charles Audoin was formed in 1972 by Charles and his oenologist wife Marie-Francoise, starting with three hectares in Marsannay. Their holding has now grown to around 14 hectares that captures some of the best parcels in Marsannay. Their son Cyril joined his father in 2000, and is now in charge of both vineyard and winemaking activities for the Domaine. Cyril is increasingly focused on vineyard health, to deliver wines with pure varietal expression and a sense of place. They are among the most serious wines from the area, and while juicy and approachable young, have the capacity to age gracefully for many years.
This rosé is made from 100% Pinot Noir, sourced from organically farmed vineyards in and around the Marsannay appellation. Blush pink tinged colour. A mix of strawberry, pomegranate and cherry aromas stream out of the glass with hints of musk and wet stone also evident. Showing excellent intensity of flavour the palate features delicious raspberry, strawberry, cherry and pomegranate fruits which carry a silken feel. Watermelon, delicate musk and wet stone elements sit in the background. Mildly tangy acidity with the long moreish finish gorgeously polished in it’s texture.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
