2023 Delatite Pinot Gris
Delatite has been producing wine since 1981 with David Ritchie taking over in 2005 and introducing Biodynamic Principles to manage the property. Hand-picked fruit is whole bunch pressed to 500L barrels for wild fermentation and 6 months of maturation on lees.
Brilliant water like core with greenish tinged edges. Intense pear and red apple scents fill the nostrils with hints of honeysuckle, quince and delicate musk also evident. Delicious pear and red apple fruits carry a beautifully rounded textural feel across the palate with some quince, faint honeysuckle and wet stone elements lining the back half. Finishes dry with brisk acidity and a refreshing medium to long aftertaste.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
Alc. 12.5%
Other Reviews....
Style writ large revealing the rich, inner beauty of pinot gris (for those who ever doubted it). Ripe but also precise in aromas of nectarine, peach, Asian pear and apple blossom. Warm and honeyed on the palate, spicy, too, and yet never cloying. Indeed, quite the opposite thanks to clean, bright, lasting, acidity.
