2023 Dandelion Vineyards Damsel of the Barossa Merlot
Rich spicy dark fruits with a ripe, fleshy textured and tobacco laced finish.
Matured in older French oak barriques for a period of 20 months. Dense inky black colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Ripe dark plum and mulberry scents fill the nostrils with whiffs of liquorice, dried herbs, earthy tobacco and spice also evident. Rich and quite plump in it’s feel, the mid weighted palate is layered with spicy dark plum and mulberry fruits which meld into a cedary tobacco dried herb and earth back drop. Fine grained tannins with a ripe, fleshy textured, tobacco laced finish.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews….
Ripe red plum, mulberry and red cherry fruits with notes of fine spice, vanillin oak, earth, some drying meadow herbs, quince paste, licorice and purple flowers. Plush and plummy on the palate with a mulberry lift, fine, silty tannins for support and a chalky vibe as it slowly trails off. Drink by 2035.
