2023 Craiglee Chardonnay
Refined and nicely shaped with a long finish.
Brilliant pale straw to straw colour with greenish toned edges and a watery hue. Fleshy white peach and nectarine aromas mix with hints of dried honey, lemon, faint butterscotch, biscuity oak and spice. Making a refined entry are white peach, nectarine and dried honey flavours which meld into a subtle crème brulee, cashew and spice back drop. Cream tinged mouth feel with a long, nicely shaped finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews…..
As usual, there’s plenty to enjoy with Craiglee chardonnay even if this is somewhat closed. It’s in a youthful stage and more time in bottle will ensure another layer of complexity. If you don’t want to wait, expect Meyer lemon, grapefruit pith and ginger spice. It feels almost pared back with seamless integrated oak and a soupçon of nutty lees. Savoury, textural and lively acidity throughout. Drink by 2033.
