Dense inky black heart with a deep dark red black hue. Ripe plummy blackberry and liquorice aromas fill the nostrils followed by some earthy vanilla and peppered fennel notes. Juicy plum, liquorice and ripe dark cherry fruits are backed by chewy tannins and bright acidity. Vanillin earth and peppered fennel elements lie underneath. Finishes slightly chalky yet succulent.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.

There’s such a great sense of restraint at this address, all while delivering flavour depth and engaging texture. It’s the sign of confident stewards, knowing their fruit and having a clear idea of use, in tune with the culture, climate and food of the region. From estate vines in Whites Valley, this is terrific value. Such a quietly complex wine, uncluttered with inputs, though also carefully crafted. Powdered spice and crushed violets sit atop dark berries, red plum and wild red fruits, with a heartbeat of mineral definition. Really lovely. Drink by 2033.
