The 2023 Pierre 1er is plump, juicy and super-expressive. Aromatic top notes from the Franc beautifully play off a core of dark Merlot fruit. Black cherry, mocha, spice, new leather and dried herbs build into the creamy, resonant finish. Pierre 1er is another wine that has changed dramatically in recent years. Today, there's more freshness and vibrancy, but also plenty of textural opulence. Tasted two times. Drink 2027-2038.

This is solid and structured with an impressive concentration of fruit in the center-palate and chocolatey undertones. Medium- to full-bodied with firm yet very fine, almost silky tannins. Long finish.

The deep ruby/purple-hued 2023 Château Pierre 1Er offers up a big, rich, nicely oaked bouquet of black and blue fruits, scorched earth, and graphite, and it shows more floral and violet notes with time in the glass. Rich, medium-bodied, and balanced, with good concentration and chalky tannins, it's another impressive 2023 with tons to love.
