2023 Bowen Estate Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon
Concentrated yet refined with a long, elegant conclusion.
Still family owned and operated, this small Coonawarra vineyard has been evolving over the past 40+ years and now involves their daughter, Emma who has taken on the winemaking role whilst Doug is looking after the viticultural side of things. The Estate consists of 33 hectares of vines planted on the prized Coonawarra Terra Rosa soils. Established in 1972, the first vintage in 1975 was greeted with considerable enthusiasm.
Midnight black heart with a dark red black tinged hue. Elevated ripe red to black currant and red liquorice aromas engulf the nostrils followed by hints of mulberry, dusty vanillin cedar and bay leaf. Rich red to black currant, red liquorice and mulberry fruits are layered across the mid weighted palate. Concentrated yet refined in its feel, notions of spicy vanillin cedar, dusty earth and bay leaf are spread across the back half. Beautiful tannin integration with a long, elegant conclusion.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
