2023 Antinori Peppoli Chianti Classico
Medium weighted with juicy red fruits and a fresh, refined feel to the savoury finish.
Antinori’s Peppoli was first made in 1985 and year in year out proves to be a reliable, great value Chianti Classico. Produced from predominately Sangiovese grapes, the wine was aged for approximately 9 months in large Slavonian oak casks with a small parcel in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness of fruit.
Deep dark red black tinged core with a dark red hue. The nose has an attractive aromatic profile of red currants, faint rose petals and red liquorice followed by some dried herb, subtle earth. tobacco and spice notes. Medium weighted the palate features juicy red currant and red liquorice fruits over light earth, infusions of fresh herbs and delicate spicy tobacco elements. Nicely integrated tannins with a fresh, refined feel to the savoury finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews....
On the nose, savory top soil, espresso and black pepper balance blackberries and black cherries. The cohesive palate is simultaneously spicy and dense with ripe but still tart and snappy fruit, and has a finish of spicy pepper, earth and a bit of bitter citrus pith.
