1920 and 1940 Eastern and 1975 Central. Hello. This and the 24b Shiraz are absolutely the best wines from Wendouree in 2022. Not a great year for Wendouree IMO. The wines are a bit too frisky and touched up in the winery for me. And I’ve tasted these wines for 14 years or more.
Redcurrant, blackcurrant, aniseed and cedar, Throaties, quite some perfume too. It’s medium-bodied, fine and fresh, a bit stony and firm, dried herbs, mint and tobacco, with a lively and cool finish of super length. It’s got some get up and go. It will live a long time and it’s very much a classic expression of old school Clare Cabernet. Yes. Drink 2026 - 2046+.
