2022 Torzi Matthews Schist Rock Shiraz

Torzi Matthews is partnership between Domenic Torzi and Tracy Matthews. Their Schist Rock Shiraz is sourced from the Eden Valley sub region of Mt McKenzie with the vines 25 years old. Maturation takes place in predominately older French oak barrels (only 10% are new) and 25% whole bunch fruit is included in the ferment.
Impenetrable inky black heart with a very deep dark red black hue. Alluring dark plum, liquorice and black cherry aromas are complimented by smoky vanillin cedar, dried herb and peppered meat notes. Rich and sumptuous the palate is flush with fleshy dark plum, liquorice and blackberry fruits which have a silky feel. Very polished and sleek it has velvety tannins and an undercarriage of smoky vanillin cedar, fennel and peppered dried herbs. Finishes fresh, balanced and long, well endowed with plush dark fruit.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
