2022 Te Mata Estate Merlot Cabernets

An elegant, medium bodied Merlot Cabernets blend.

A blend of 54% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc matured in a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barrels for a period of 12 months. Deep dark red black in colour with a dark red hue. Lifted aromas of blackcurrant infused with black olive, dusty cedar and tobacco leaf are followed by some spicy herb end notes. The elegant, medium bodied palate features red to black currant and mulberry fruits over an undercurrent of cedary tobacco elements, dusty earth and spicy dried herbs. Dryish but fine grained tannins lend a subtle chalky feel. Fresh acidity with a grainy mid length finish.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
