2022 Snake & Herring Cannonball Cabernet Sauvignon

A richly fruited yet sturdily built Cabernet that has a refined conclusion.

A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec and 4% Merlot. Midnight black core with a dark red black tinged hue. Ripe blackcurrant and mulberry aromas mix with cedary tobacco, dried herb, earth and spice notes. Rich black currant fruit is complimented by some red liquorice, mulberry, dusty vanillin cedar, subtle tobacco and spicy dried herb elements. Sturdily built yet integrated tannin structure with a refined medium to long conclusion.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

A slight change of direction with Cannonball, now mainly a single-vineyard wine at 90/6/4% cabernet/malbec/merlot. This is excellent. It’s a refined, elegant style, almost pared back, with regional flavours of cassis and blackberries, menthol and eucalyptus, lightly spiced and lightly oaked (20% new mostly puncheons and aged 10 months). The tannins are superfine, the acidity light and bright, the palate fuller bodied but not weighty. All in all, a gorgeous drink. Drink by 2035.
