2022 Shaw & Smith Riesling

Brilliant water like core with greenish tinged edges. Lemon and lime scents jump out of the glass trailed by some green apple, orange rind, chalky talc and mineral notes. Mouth watering lime, lemon and green to red apple fruits are delivered with terrific intensity and drive with some chalky talc and orange characters lying underneath. Crunchy mineral infused acidity finishing long and scrumptious.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

This release will take some bottle age, for sure, but if you were looking for a young riesling to drink right now, this would make an excellent choice. It offers excellent upfront flavour, a semblance of texture, noteworthy push through the finish and a general, all-round deliciousness. Lime, apple juice, apple seeds and slate characters are the drivers but the specifics aren’t so important. It drinks a treat, and that’s the thing. Drink 2022-2027+
