2022 Robin Brockett Heyward Vineyard Chardonnay
Focused and elegant.
Brilliant pale straw to straw colour with green toned edges and a watery hue. Intense ripe peach, nectarine, dried honey and crème brulee scents fill the nostrils with some nougat and spice also evident. Pear, beeswax and nectarine flavours are underscored by lively acidity. Delicate lemon butter, nougat and spicy almond elements are also apparent. Finishes dry and focused with an elegant aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews….
From a 1ha, 25-year-old vineyard in Wallington. Whole-bunch pressed; fermented and matured in 1- and 2-year-old French barriques. Bright green gold. An attractive bouquet with stone fruits, dried pear, yellow flowers and a hint of honeysuckle. Just as good on the taut, gently nutty palate that finishes with a pleasing touch of grip. Drink by 2027.
