2022 Port Phillip Estate Balnarring Pinot Noir
Semi translucent red to dark red colour with black shaded edges and a light vibrant red hue. Very fragrant nose with pretty scents of violet, red cherry and strawberry delighting the olfactory senses. Hints of anise, forest floor, fresh herbs and spicy cedar are also evident. Delicious red to dark cherry and strawberry fruits line the palate which is light and fresh. Subtle anise, infusions of fresh herbs, delicate forest floor and spicy cedar elements ensue. Polished tannins with an agile red fruited finish.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews…..
Being originally from the North of England, I naturally (incorrectly) pronounce the name with a short ‘a’ on the second one, though it’s supposed to be an ‘ah’ sound. Balnarring, darling. Red cherry, spiced strawberry, mint/aniseed, dried herbs, and a little undergrowth. It’s a little sappy, with sweet and sour red fruits, a cranberry freshness to acidity, some orange zest, cool and precise, with fine dusty tannin grip, and a spicy, gently peppery finish of brightness and crisp acidity. Lively. Better again with a few more years on it, I’d say. Drink 2024-2032.
