2022 Plantagenet York Chardonnay

Plantagenet are one of the pioneers of the Great Southern region with vines first planted back in 1968 and their first commercial release in 1974. This is a superb fuller style of Chardonnay that was matured in French oak barriques, 30% new, with regular lees stirring to build texture. Brilliant pale straw colour with a greenish tinge to the edges and a watery hue. Elevated ripe nectarine and pear aromas intermingle with dried honey, cashew, nougat and spice. Rich and concentrated, fleshy textured white peach, nectarine and dried honey flavours flood the mouth carrying with them a full creamy feel. Crème brulee, subtle cashew and spicy nougat characters linger through the long generous finish that combines intensity with freshness.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
