Coming Soon - 2022 Place of Changing Winds Mari Magno Pinot Noir
Introducing the first release under the new Mari Magno label, this Pinot Noir is drawn largely from Place of Changing Winds échalas (staked bush-vine) block, with some young-vine fruit in support. Aged an extra year in bottle, it arrives with lifted energy, aromatic complexity and a supple, expressive palate. Designed as a space for experimentation and evolution, Mari Magno signals an exciting new tier at Place of Changing Winds.
Alc. 13.5%

This is called ‘the new entry level pinot noir’ which is a fun thing at $80 or so, but of course we know the detail here can command such an introduction. From younger vines on the estate. There’s some great DNA of the site, or as I interpret from tasting just about all the releases from this place. Good one.
Delicious. Great drinking. Fine. A good lead of game meat, sappy cherry, green olive, alpine herbs, just-ripe strawberry and a general sense of softness, balance, resolve with its time in bottle and maturation generally. A silty feel to tannin, but relaxed, the wine generally so; long and luxurious in a casual kind of way. A little greenery here, so expect that, coolness and minty flickers. Enjoyable. Drink 2025-2032.
