2022 Pikes Traditionale Riesling

Pikes have long produced one of Clare Valley’s benchmark Rieslings, 2022 marking the 38th release, one which is widely considered as a superb vintage for Riesling. Fruit is sourced predominately from the Estate’s Polish Hill River vineyard with the balance coming from growers located in the Watervale, Sevenhill, Leasingham and Mintaro districts. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel on lees for 3 months.

As good a Riesling from Pikes as we can remember.

Brilliant water like core with distinct highlights of green around the edges. Jumping from the glass are intense lime and citrus aromatics which are trailed by green apple, subtle orange rind, talc and chalky mineral notes. Exceptionally concentrated lime and citrus fruits are thrust across the mouth watering palate with great force. Crunchy acidity underpins the super scrumptious fruit with some Granny Smith apple, orange rind, chalky talc and mineral elements rendered across the back half. Magnificent power with a very long snap fresh aftertaste. Outstanding.
