After leaving his family domaine in 2005, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey has established himself as one of the rising stars of Burgundy. Pierre-Yves has built a strong reputation for crafting exquisite white Burgundy that display energy and vitality. The white wines are whole bunch pressed, fermented with natural yeasts, aged on lees for up to 18 months in mostly in 350 litre barrels with no lees stirring and no filtration. The corks used come from one tiny supplier and are extra long and extra wide (55mm x 25mm) for the village, 1er cru and Grand cru wines and are untreated with no paraffin and the bottles are then sealed with soft wax to ensure no problems with premature oxidation. The resulting wines are built to age classically up to 10 years or more.

Other Reviews....
Pretty and layered aromas of pear and apple compote display additional nuances of zest, spice and an all but invisible touch of wood. There is a bit less volume and even finer texture to the stony, delicious and intense medium weight flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced, clean and dry finale that is just a bit more complex. This is lovely plus it's a wine that should drink well young as well as with mid-term keeping. Drink through 2029+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound

Unwinding in the glass with aromas of pear, crisp yellow orchard fruit, toasted hazelnuts and buttery pastry, the 2022 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru La Chatenière is medium to full-bodied, with a fleshy and layered core of fruit girdled by racy acids, concluding with a long, chalky finish.

William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2022 Saint-Aubin La Chatenière 1er Cru, a blend of three different parcels, is quite closed on the nose despite rigorous coaxing. A touch of reduction is at play, with crushed oyster shell and kelp-like scents percolating through the malic fruit. The palate is well-balanced with a concentrated opening. This feels like a grippy, weighty Saint-Aubin, perhaps without quite the nuance of the 2021, yet it feels reassuringly persistent on the finish. Drink 2025-2043.

Neal Martin - Vinous

The 2022 Chatenière from PYCM boasts succulent aromas of ripe apple and quince with a hint of hazelnut and a flinty edge. The texture is ripe and broad, very different from the Champelots, which is lemony and lighter. The domaine farms three parcels here on the sheltered south and west-facing slopes between Champelots and Murgers des Dents de Chien. The grapes are gently pressed as whole clusters and fermented with most of their lees in cask. Drink 2025-2045.

Charles Curtis MW - Decanter

A lovely lively colour, lemon and lime, with something of a quality reduction on the nose. Then opens out, with more flesh behind. This is extremely classy, very PYCM in style with an extra generosity from this sunny site in a sunny vintage. Excellent balanced aftertaste. Drink from 2027-2032.
