2022 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chassagne Montrachet Les Chenevottes Premier Cru
After leaving his family domaine in 2005, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey has established himself as one of the rising stars of Burgundy. Pierre-Yves has built a strong reputation for crafting exquisite white Burgundy that display energy and vitality. The white wines are whole bunch pressed, fermented with natural yeasts, aged on lees for up to 18 months in mostly in 350 litre barrels with no lees stirring and no filtration. The corks used come from one tiny supplier and are extra long and extra wide (55mm x 25mm) for the village, 1er cru and Grand cru wines and are untreated with no paraffin and the bottles are then sealed with soft wax to ensure no problems with premature oxidation. The resulting wines are built to age classically up to 10 years or more.
Other Reviews....
This is even more floral-suffused with its nose of petrol, lemon rind and soft wood. The rich and quite generously proportioned middleweight flavors coat the palate with dry extract while exuding a more subtle bead of minerality on the balanced, lingering and citrus-tinged finish. Once again this is sufficiently forward to allow for good early drinkability yet should have no trouble repay a decade plus of keeping. Drink through 2030+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound
The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes opens in the glass with notes of honeyed pear, white flowers, freshly baked bread and beeswax. Medium to full-bodied, lively and structured, it's taut and chalky, foregrounding this site's shallow, stony soils more than its sunny exposition.

The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Chenevottes 1er Cru has a focused and precise nose, though it has the unenviable task of following the flattering Abbaye de Morgeot. There is a strictness here. The palate is fresh on the entry, quite sapid with touches of dried honey mixed with orange rind and light walnut notes towards the finish. Give this 3-4 years in bottle. Serious Chassagne! Drink 2026-2042.

Three plots, one by the stop sign on the main road, one in the middle in a cooler spot in a dip, and one higher up by Vergers, together providing an average age of 50 years. A fine pale primrose colour, with immediately quite generous yellow fruit. Plenty of weight here, matched by good acidity, makes one salivate, a lovely blend of the stony side of white Burgundy and ripe fruit. Notably long finish. Drink from 2028-2034.
