2022 Penny’s Hill Single Vineyard Shiraz

Rich, concentrated and plush with a dense mouth coating texture and solidly built structure.

South Australian vineyard baron and wine mogul Warren Randall recently purchased the Penny’s Hill estate and with it he has undertaken a smart packaging revamp of the brand. Produced from a vineyard planted in 1991, this excellent Shiraz was matured in French oak puncheons, of which 35% were new and the remaining 1-3 year old oak for a period of 16 months. Only the best barrels were selected for the final blend.
Impenetrable inky black heart with a very deep black dark red hue. Pronounced liquorice, black cherry and blackberry scents build in momentum as they sit in the glass. Complimenting notes of earthy fennel, vanillin cedar and blackpepper ensue. Rich, concentrated and plush, the full bodied palate is saturated with liquorice, black cherry and blackberry fruits. Dense mouth coating texture with fennel, spicy vanillin cedar and peppered earth elements lining the back half. Outstanding power with velvety yet solidly built tannins providing ample structure. The long expansive finish detailed with blackpepper and fennel characters.
