2022 Penley Tolmer Cabernet Sauvignon

Rich black fruits framed by firm tannins with a concentrated yet grippy mid length finish.

Dense inky black heart with a very deep dark red black tinged hue. Aromas of ripe blackcurrant and liquorice mix with vanillin cedar, tobacco, earthy black olive and hints of spicy bay leaf. Rich blackcurrant and liquorice fruits are framed by firm tannins with earthy tobacco, vanillin cedar and spicy bay leaf the undercard. Concentrated yet grippy mid length finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

This vintage sees the wine matured in 20% new oak for 12 months. It's a brooding wine with black cherries, brown spices and undulating waves of acidity. A carob and black-sesame-paste richness. There is almost a sarsaparilla spice without the sweetness that follows those concoctions. Some velvety but persistent tannins, and caraway and rye spice on the finish. A very edible wine with plenty of character and interest. Drink by 2030.
