2022 Patrick Underwood Dash Farms Leanganook Chardonnay
Rich yet refined and fresh with a long, elegant, cream tinged finish.
Brilliant pale straw colour with green highlights around the edges and a watery hue. Aromas of white peach, pear and dried honey drift through the nostrils complimented by hints of biscuity oak, nougat and gun flint. Rich yet refined and fresh, the beautifully fleshed palate is layered with white peach, dried honey and pear flavours. Subtle cashew, biscuity nougat and gentle infusions of gun flint lie underneath. Long, elegant, cream tinged finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews….
Grown at 477m above sea level. Vineyard planted 1999. I’m not so familiar with the wines of Patrick Underwood, though I sense that he’s a very talented winemaker.
Well, here’s a very beautiful wine. It’s floral, saline, spicy, green olive and white peach, fennel, lime and mandarin. It’s fine, flinty and lightly chalky, nutty and slightly sake-like too, and it delivers flavour with such finesse and grace. It’s pure and long, and just a flat out wonderful thing to drink. Bright and beautifully made. That lick of salinity on the finish is so mouth-watering and inviting. Yes. Drink 2024-2031.
