Formerly known as Powell & Son, Dave Powell, of Torbreck fame and son Callum have now decided to take separate paths on their winemaking journey. Dave rebranding his venture Neldner Road.
Magnificent depth of colour featuring an inky black heart along with an equally deep black dark red hue. Pronounced aromas of black cherry liqueur, liquorice and ripe blackberries are overlaid by toasty vanillin oak with some dark plum, earth and spice notes also present. Rich and dense, lavish black cherry, liquorice and black plum fruits greet the front half of the palate with prominent vanillin oak dominating across the back half. Some scorched earth and subtle spicy leather elements are also evident. Bright acidity counterpoints the opulent texture. Ripe and powerful it has polished yet sturdy tannins and a plush yet lively finish.
