2022 Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz
Rich and weighty this is a lush, fuller bodied Cliff Edge.
Established in 1969, Mount Langi Ghiran is a cornerstone of Australian cool climate winemaking, best known for its iconic Langi Shiraz. Nestled in Victoria’s Grampians and named for the yellow-tailed black cockatoo, the site has a rich viticultural history dating back to the late 1800s. The modern era began with the Fratin family, who replanted the vineyard with a vision of recreating a slice of Veneto in Australia. Their efforts laid the foundation for the legendary Old Block Shiraz. A pivotal moment came with the arrival of Trevor Mast in the 1980s, whose foresight in cool climate Shiraz helped elevate the estate to international acclaim. In 2002, the Rathbone family acquired Mount Langi Ghiran, expanding their premium wine portfolio. Today, under Chief Winemaker Adam Louder—who began his journey at Langi under Mast—the estate continues to produce elegant, expressive wines with a commitment to quality and innovation, upholding a proud legacy while looking firmly to the future.
Midnight black heart with a dark red black tinged hue. Pronounced aromas of blackberry, liquorice and dark plum engulf the nostrils followed by some vanillin cedar, subtle scorched earth and peppered fennel notes. Rich and weighty this is a lush, fuller bodied Cliff Edge that features cascading waves of dark plum, liquorice and blackberry fruit. Notions of vanillin cedar, smoked meats and peppered earth the undercard. Sumptuous and well fleshed it boasts excellent power and a sturdy yet velvet like tannin structure. The long succulent finish laced with blackpepper.
