2022 Mont-Redon Reserve Gigondas

A rich, engulfing Gigondas with slightly chewy tannins and a long, bold finish.

A blend of 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah/Mourvèdre sourced from 70+ year-old vines in two lieu-dits in the north of the appellation, in roughly equal proportions. Notre-Dame-des-Pallières is a south facing site at about 200m, whilst Pallière et Pied-Gu is north-facing and at 300m. The fruit from Notre-Dame-des-Pallières is fully de-stemmed, whilst that from Pallière et Pied-Gu is fermented as whole bunches. Malo is completed in tank and then 60% of each parcel is transferred to 228L barriques for 16 months maturation.
Deep dark red black tinged colour with a dark red hue. Pronounced dark to black raspberry, liquorice and black cherry aromas flood the nostrils with trailing notes of scorched earth, provincial herbs and peppered meats also evident. Rich, engulfing dark raspberry, black cherry and liquorice fruits make an opulent entry displaying both intensity and depth. Infusions of provincial herbs, scorched earth and pepper sit in the background. Ripe, slightly chewy tannins with a long, bold finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

A well-balanced, succulent red with aromas of red cherries, black peppercorns, cured meat and dried leaves. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins. Refined texture with a velvety stream of sweet red berries and a lovely bitter-orange character on the lively, lingering finish. Drink or hold.
