2022 Mayfield Vineyard Eighteen Fifteen Chardonnay

Brilliant very pale straw colour with distinct highlights of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Elevated citrus and grapefruit aromas are intermeshed with biscuity oak and gun flint. Light, refreshing and possessing a stony feel the palate has an elegant flavour profile of grapefruit and citrus over notions of biscuity oak, oyster shell and infusions of gun flint. Fresh acidity lends focus and tension to the chiselled finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Elevation of 900m and 25-year-old vines; seven months in a combination of new and seasoned oak. Latent power from start to finish with the developing Mayfield signature style of finesse and grace. Lemon aspen, lime cordial and white nectarine. Crushed sandstone and struck match. A yoghurt creaminess is followed by darting acidity and a touch of phenolic bitterness on the finish. A steal at the price. Drink by 2032.
