2022 Max & Me Springton Vineyard Old Vine Grenache

A light, energetic red fruited Grenache.

From vines over 150 years old. Dark red core with black toned edges and a bright red hue. Delightful red raspberry, red liquorice and cherry aromas greet the nostrils with some crushed rock, fresh herb and pepper notes also evident. Light and energetic the palate features red cherry, red raspberry and red liquorice fruits underpinned by fresh crunchy acidity. Infusions of fresh herbs and pepper ensue. Fine grained tannins with a finish that’s light, brisk and elegant.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

A new release in the Max & Me quiver, which is sourced from a 'very famous' 150-plus-year-old vineyard east of Springton. I'm pretty sure Phil is referring to the Stonegarden vineyard, which many of the Barossa's top producers use as a source of amazing fruit. Vivid and zesty with impressively pure plum and red berry fruits, a plume of gingery spice and hints of cola, citrus blossom and red licorice. Great velocity and chalky tannin grip all add up to a great little first run for this new wine. Very nice! Drink by 2030.

There is delicious purity to this 2022 Grenache Old Vine Springton Vineyard, It delivers a pretty array of aromas. Layers of raspberry and wild strawberry aromas are lifted by touches of Chinese five spice and red licorice. Beautifully textured and fleshy, with a gentle grip, it offers a creamy texture thanks to excellent fruit volume and intriguing charcuterie and fennel seed layers. Whole bunch tannins rise up to provide the backbone to a lengthy finish. The 2022 is ultra-modern and will offer plenty for the patient over the medium term. Drink 2024-2032.
