2022 Massena The Moonlight Run Shiraz Mataro Grenache
Rich, weighty and lush with a chewy feel.
Deep black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Aromas of liquorice, dark plum and black raspberry drift through the nostrils complimented by some scorched earth and peppered dried herb notes. Rich, weighty and lush the palate is swamped with black cherry, liquorice and black raspberry fruits. Imparting a chewy feel onto the otherwise opulently textured palate is a sturdy tannin structure. Terrific concentration and power with scorched earth, spicy vanillin cedar and peppered meats forming the underbelly. Concludes long, peppery and mildly muscular.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews.....
A blend of 42/30/28% shiraz/mataro/grenache; some whole bunch with the mataro (30%) and grenache (50%). This is such a pretty wine; it's lighter in body thanks to the '22 vintage conditions and it makes for fantastic drinking. Red/blue fruits, plenty of spice and bunchy nuance along with hints of dried citrus rind, clover blossom, panforte, dried meats, red licorice and earth. Lithe, filigreed and textural, there's a great energy to this wine. Good stuff. Drink by 2035.
