Louis-Benoit Desvignes and his sister Claude-Emmanuelle Desvignes today run this historic estate in Morgon. This 13-hectare domaine produces some of the longest-lived and most serious wines in the Beaujolais. Old vines, organically farmed and harvested late, produce grapes that see traditional winemaking with whole clusters, long macerations and a submerged cap. The result is a range of inky, saturated reds with plenty of character and structure, and the top cuvées will have no trouble evolving for two decades.

Other Reviews....
The 2022 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières Aux Pierres is enchanting with a complex nose of ripe blackberries, dark plums, blood orange, anise, wet stones, white musk and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied and with a succulent weave of fruit, the wine is suave, multi-layered and generously upheld by a velvety layer of tannins. The bright acidity paired with the lining of marine-tinged salinity creates a refreshing contrast with the darker notes, and the wine lasts long overall, gracefully concluding with a slow fade of flavor. This is a noble expression of terroir, complex, luscious, balanced, truly captivating. Drink 2025-2040.

The 2022 Morgon Aux Pierres Javernières comes from a métayage since the 2020 vintage from vines planted in 1931. It has a very complex, mineral-driven bouquet with dark cherries, tea leaves and crushed stone, floral scents emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. This is very pure in style, beautifully balanced with a satin-textured finish that is one of the most caressing you will find this vintage. Outstanding. Drink 2024-2042.
