2022 Lino Ramble Marco Polo Sangiovese
A ripe, fleshy and relatively simple mid weighted Sangiovese with a spice laden finish.
Dark red black tinged colour with a dark red hue. Initial ripe red currant aromas are met by vanillin cedar and earth with some red liquorice and dried herb notes also evident. Ripe, fleshy and relatively simple, the mid weighted palate features red currant and cherry fruits over spicy vanillin cedar, red liquorice and earth. Slightly grainy tannins with a juicy, spice laden mid length finish.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews…..
Open fermented with native yeasts; on skins for 16 days. Classically varietal, this is redolent of cherries, woody herbs and dusty earth notes. The oak ageing (12 months in older French) gives it the palate tension a Chianti-phile might expect. But this is the Vale, and a near-40-year history here makes it a rusted on local, with this an excellent example of why it is so suited – mid-weight, sinewy, fresh, savoury and crying out for food. Drink by 2027.
