2022 Izway Harold Shiraz

The 2021/2022 growing season in Barossa Valley was characterized by cool weather and abundant spring rain, producing pure, energetic, and balanced wines. Despite a significant hailstorm on October 28th that devastated the home vineyard and the Harold Vineyard in Eden Valley, other sites thrived, yielding healthy canopies and perfectly ripe bunches. Although 2021 is regarded as a superior vintage, the 2022 wines stand out with their capacity to be enjoyed young and their potential for aging gracefully.

The vinification process for the 2022 Harold involved a careful 10-day natural fermentation with manual plunging, pigeage, delestage, and open-air pump-overs. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in seasoned French Oak Hogshead barrels. The resultant wine is bold, with deep color and flavor complexity. Its nose presents notes of coffee, chocolate, blackberry, and blueberry, while the palate offers a rich, textural experience complemented by cooler spice elements, showcasing elegance and depth.
