Hudelot-Noëllat is no longer one of Burgundy’s hidden gems as word is well and truly out now on just how exceptional these wines are. Charles Van Canneyt runs this iconic family owned domaine based in Vougeot where he crafts elegant and classic wines from some of the region’s most prized vineyards. Staying true to tradition, Charles practices minimal intervention in the cellar along with limited new oak usage. His aim is to produce refined Burgundy with an emphasis on purity and finesse, all while letting the terroir shine.

Other Reviews....
A more deeply pitched nose freely offers up its aromas of plum, earth and a whiff of the sauvage. The delicious and vibrant, if not especially dense, medium weight flavors possess good punch and focused power on the mildly austere, compact and built-to-age finale. This should age gracefully over a 12 to 15 year window and hold for another decade thereafter. Drink through 2034+.

The 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Murgers unfurls in the glass with aromas of plums, peonies, spices and smoked duck. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with an almost unctuous core of fruit, melting tannins and lovely purity of fruit, it's a real success.

The 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Murgers 1er Cru offers a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, still that touch of crushed rock and wild hedgerow. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, that dash of white pepper in situ with a harmonious, supple, almost Vosne-like finish. Very fine. Tasted at the Stannary Wines dinner in London with Charles van Canneyt. Drink 2026-2045.

A pleasing ruby colour. The bouquet shows the perfect match of Vosne hedonistic fruit with the extra weight of Nuits-St-Georges. Fruit floods the palate, dark raspberry, a light acidity, tannins submerged beneath the fruit, a light touch of oak, and remarkably persistent. Very fine indeed. Enjoy it because two thirds of the plot on 161/49 rootstock was taken out after the 2022 harvest. Drink from 2032-2040.
