2022 Hoddles Creek Estate Chardonnay
Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. The nose is greeted with a delightful mix of white peach, nectarine and dried honey aromas which meld into citrusy nougat and subtle biscuity oak notes. The concentrated palate features fleshy textured white peach and nectarine fruits which are delivered with plenty of richness over a dried honey, biscuity oak, citrusy nougat and delicate gun flint back drop. Finishes fresh with a dash of spice on the long enveloping aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Cool(ish) year, small yields. This is the best HCE Chardonnay I can recall tasting.
White peach, green pear, a little citrus, fine spicy oak, almond, discreet struck match. It’s tight, but has flavour, plenty of flinty and chalky texture, ripe lemon and lemon peel, almond biscotti and green olive, firm crunch of pure acidity, and a long and racy finish that so mouth-watering and zesty. My word. Drink 2024-2030+
