2022 Farr Rising Gamay
Grafted onto Cabernet vines, with the first vintage in 2014, the vines are grown on a mixture of submerged volcanic pebbles and cracking clay soil. After undergoing carbonic maceration in a sealed tank for 10 days, the must is pressed to 5-year-old barrels and bottled 8 months later.
Other Reviews.....
This is a particularly smoky, earthen, tobacco-strewn edition of Farr's Moorabool Valley gamay, the word 'savouriness' almost going without saying. It's a dry, woodsy, leafy wine with a line of juicy red cherry-like fruit washing throughout, and personality at every turn. It's also firm with tannin, in the most measured and uncompromising of ways. Tight, light, complex and engaging; it's quite a wine. Drink by 2030.
