2022 Domaine Jacques-Frederic Mugnier Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru
Other Reviews....
An airy, fresh and ripe nose combines notes of plum liqueur with a lovely plethora of floral and discreet spice elements. The super-sleek and beautifully delineated flavors are not particularly concentrated but they display a taut muscularity on the superbly long and impeccably well-balanced finale that is firm enough to repay extended keeping. A Bonnes Mares of relative refinement and one of the better vintages for this wine in recent memory. Drink through 2037+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound
Aromas of dark cherries, minty berries, rose petals, sweet spices and orange zest introduce the 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, a full-bodied, ample and seamless wine with a rich, layered core of fruit that's framed by supple, powdery tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, saline finish.

Medium deep and bright purple. As always has the slightly coffee torrefaction nose but with pretty red fruit beneath. Juicy on the palate, at the front then a little more austere behind. But this is one of the more attractive versions I have had here. I said as much to Frédéric. “Well its taken 20 years to persuade you, Jasper”, he responded – “but I have to admit you were right, at the start!”. Maybe a fourth star next year? Drink from 2032-2038.

Jasper Morris MW - Inside Burgundy
This lovely, exuberant Bonnes-Mares shows ripe dark fruit aromas of mulberry and plum and hints of violet, dark chocolate, and earth. The texture is substantial but not astringent, with richness but no heaviness. A bigger wine than the Musigny, but not awkward in any way. Although expressive in barrel, this may shut down and require up to five years to show well once bottled. This is top-quality Bonnes-Mares done with an eminently light touch. Drink 2028-2075.
