2022 Coulter Wines C4 Tempranillo

Matured in seasoned French oak. Deep dark red black tinged colour with a bright red to dark red hue. Spicy blueberry and dark cherry aromas emerge from the glass with fresh herb, earth and subtle leather notes also chiming in. Elegant dark cherry and ripe blueberry fruits are light to mid weight in body with notions of earth, fresh herbs and spice lying underneath. Fine grained tannins finishing bright and fresh with a savoury red to blue fruited aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.

This producer has a deft hand with varieties that promise much in this land. At this address, good sangiovese, wonderful barbera and now, perhaps the most miraculous, a tempranillo of considerable intrigue. Blue and red fruit allusions, dried herbs and a starched upper collar of bony tannins glimpsing the Mediterranean through a cabernet lens of astringency. Very good drinking. Drink by 2027.
