2022 Coriole Sangiovese

Deep dark red core with black shaded edges and a dark red hue. Spicy red currant and red cherry aromas emerge from the glass followed by some dried herb, dusty earth and subtle tobacco notes. Juicy red currant and red cherry fruits drive the mid weighted palate with dusty earth, dried herbs and spice lying underneath. Vibrant acidity underpins the fruit along with slightly chalky tannins. Concludes with a savoury rusticity.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Coriole claims to have pioneered sangiovese in Australia in 1985, but Carlo Corino had already planted 0.65ha, along with nebbiolo, in Montrose's vineyard in Mudgee. No matter; this is a civilised sangiovese, its tannins supple, the fruit flavours delicious.
