2022 Coldstream Hills Reserve Shiraz

Rich, expansive and refined, this is a classic example of Yarra Valley Shiraz.

The Coldstream Hills Reserve Shiraz has been a single vineyard wine since 2014 and is made using traditional techniques in small open fermentation pots, including in some years, the use of whole clusters. The wine was matured in seasoned and new (24%) French oak barriques and vat for seven months.
Dense midnight black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Leaping from the glass are spicy dark plum and liquorice aromas which are complexed by notions of clove, vanillin cedar, smoked meats and peppered earth. Rich, expansive dark plum, liquorice and black cherry fruits engulf the beautifully fleshed, medium bodied palate. Smoky vanillin cedar, dried meat, clove and peppered earth elements lend further nuance. Displaying plenty of power, it has a polished yet sturdily built tannin structure and long, refined, pepper infused finish.
