Made with fruit from vineyards planted in 1901 and 1906 with maturation taking place in seasoned French oak. Deep dark red purple core with black shaded edges and a red purple tinged hue. Exotic dark raspberry, morello cherry, liquorice and red plum scents flood the nostrils followed by some dried herb and vanillin spice notes. Caressing the succulent, mid weighted palate are dark raspberry, red liquorice and dark cherry fruits with vanillin spice, delicate earth, dried herb and pepper elements lying underneath. Opulently textured it has velvet smooth tannins and finishes long, spicy and seductive.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews….
This strikes me as among the best value wines yet tasted this year. Full-weighted. Balanced by old-vine tannic torque, as much by a thread of chalky freshness joining the attack to the long, resinous finish. Cirillo likes to guzzle this as one would a Cotes-du-Rhone, such is its giddy effortlessness. Sassafras, kirsch, tea-tree menthol notes and a redolent echo of persimmon. Delicious! Drink or hold.
