2022 Chateau Pegau Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Maclura
Rich and exuberantly fruited with muscular tannins and a long chewy conclusion.
A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre and 10% Cinsault. Deep dark red black tinged colour with a dark red hue. Intense black cherry, liquorice and blackberry aromas waft from the glass followed by some black raspberry, scorched earth and peppered dried herb notes. Rich exuberant black raspberry, liquorice and black cherry fruits fully encompass the mouth. Superb concentration and power with the wonderfully deep fruit profile framed by muscular tannins. Infusions of herbs du Provence, scorched earth and peppered meats the undercard. Concludes long, opulent and chewy.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

A solid, driven and nicely made Cotes-du-Rhone blend of 60% grenache, 20% syrah, 10% mourvedre and 10% cinsault, showing aromas of sweet cherries, raspberries and sweet spices. Medium- to full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Well-built and sophisticated, this has a vivid, peppery and focused finish. Drink now.

Still in tank last summer, the 2022 Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Maclura boasts charming layers of blueberries, raspberries and black cherries. A blend of approximately 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% each Cinsault and Mourvèdre, it's full-bodied and nicely concentrated, with a taut feel on the palate and a long, dusty finish. Drink 2024-2030.

I loved the 2022 Côtes Du Rhône Cuvée Maclura, which would be one heck of a great house red. Spicy red and black fruits, peppery garrigue, leather, and herbes de Provence all give way to a medium-bodied, supple, nicely textured, savory, focused red that’s absolutely loaded with character.
