Coming Soon - 2022 Bindi Block 5 Pinot Noir
Bindi is one of Australia’s most respected small estates, producing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of purity and finesse. The vines grow in a mix of ancient Ordovician soils and volcanic slopes in the Macedon Ranges, farmed with sustainable, low-intervention methods and intensive handwork. In the winery, natural fermentations, long lees ageing, and gentle handling capture the seasonal expression of this remarkable landscape.
The Block 5 Pinot Noir is sourced from their 1992 "high-density" vineyard planting. Fruit is fermented in open vats and matured in French oak barrels of which 35% are new for a period of 15-17 months. In recent years, Bindi has intentionally reduced Block 5's yields by approximately 30% to enhance the quality of the fruit.

Other Reviews....
The superbly framed and complete 2022 Pinot Noir Block 5 is tightly wound, showing earthy, animal skin aromas dusted with fine spices. It offers a compact Pinot core that is young and tight before slowly building many layers of earth, spice and wild red fruits. So young, the 2022 shows exceptional energy and classical proportions with an underlying structure for a long future. Drink 2030 - 2044.

Angus Hughson - Antonio Galloni's Vinous
Er, good news and bad news. As to the former, this is an exceptional Block 5. The bad news? It won’t be released until May 2025. Pop it in your calendar and count down the days. Its release also coincides with Block 8 and Darshan 2020s and ‘22s. Don’t be confused. Just remember the facts. Truth is, Block 5 is gorgeous in its youth but does build more depth in time – as in five or so years. Take a deep breath to smell the roses, red/black cherries with pips and blood orange plus exotic spices. Fuller bodied and draped with exquisitely shaped, velvety fine tannins and lithe acidity ensuring the finish lingers long. Worth the wait. Drink 2025-2035.

Jane Faulkner - Halliday's Australian Wine Companion
Intensely perfumed aromas of blackberries, dark cherries, blueberries and potpourri. The palate is medium-bodied with seamless tannins and bright acidity, giving notes of forest floor, wild raspberries, amaro liqueur, citrus peel and cassia bark. An ultra-refined and polished wine that is almost perfectly balanced. Excellent. Drink or hold.
