2022 Balgownie Estate Bendigo Chardonnay
A rich, creamy textured, mid weighted central Victorian Chardonnay that has a refined finish.
Barrel fermented in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barriques then aged on lees for a period of 11 months.
Brilliant straw colour with green straw tinged edges and a watery hue. Aromas of peach and dried honey are married to roasted almond, citrusy nougat and spicy biscuit notes. Rich, fleshy peach, honeycomb and crème brulee flavours carry a creamy textured feel across the mid weighted palate. Toasty vanillin oak, nougat and spicy cashew elements sit in the background. Balanced acidity with a refined, well rounded finish that’s medium to long.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 12.7%
Other Reviews…..
Wild ferment in French oak (20% new), aged 11 months on lees. To drink or to just take in that gorgeous fragrance? That's the question. It is so inviting, a medley of varietal warmth in white peach, pear, melon, yellow apple, Meyer lemon, nougat and grilled nuts. And, yes, to taste you get to enjoy the harmonious whole, silky and well structured. Drink by 2028.
