2021 Umani Ronchi I Sassi Pecorino

The Pecorino grape, indigenous to Abruzzo, derives its name from the strong connection between sheep farming and agriculture. Almost forgotten by the 1980’s it was rescued by a handful of wineries and today Pecorino is one of Italy’s most in demand wines. Umani Ronchi’s Pecorino vineyards are in Roseto degli Abruzzi overlooking the Grand Sasso mountains. Bright pale straw colour with a glimmer of green around the edges and a watery hue. Uplifted pear and red apple aromas are joined by some lime and faint wet stone notes. Juicy pear, red apple and lime fruits drive the mouth watering palate with some stony mineral characters lying underneath. Finishes dry and crisp with some fresh herb infusions shining through the aftertaste.
