2021 Torzi Matthews Schist Rock Single Vineyard Shiraz

Torzi Matthews is partnership between Domenic Torzi and Tracy Matthews. Their Schist Rock Shiraz is sourced from the Eden Valley sub region of Mt McKenzie with the vines 25 years old. Maturation takes place in predominately older French oak barrels (only 10% are new) and 25% whole bunch fruit is included in the ferment.
Dense midnight black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Intense dark plum and liquorice aromas are complimented by some fennel, hints of graphite, smoked meats and pepper. Rich succulent dark plum, liquorice and black cherry fruits combine concentration with a plump yet fresh feel. Infusions of fennel, subtle graphite, smoky cedar and blackpepper underscore the fruit. Velvet smooth tannins concluding long, vibrant and fleshy.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
